Sign up for Maritime Meet Up
The maritime meet-up program creates a meeting place to connect women in the industry with experienced leaders (female & male). The aim is to support the realization of the mentees’ development aspirations through the mentor’s active listening, sharing of insights, contextualizing and exploring experienced challenges and advice, all with the maritime industry as a backdrop.
The aim of the program is to create a meeting place where experienced shipping professionals can share insights and career tips with female talents to inspire and drive change across the industry.
The WISTA Maritime Meet-up Program has been running since 2012, when it was started in collaboration with Youngship.
Mentor and mentees
As a mentor (female & male), you will be matched with a mentee with whom you will be expected to meet in person if possible for 2 hours each meeting monthly. As a mentor your goal is to help guide the mentee in their career journey, and to serve as a role model and confidante through the one-year program.
Mentee applicants must be females in the Maritime or Ocean Industries, who reside or work in Norway or for Norwegian companies, the program is run in English, but the pairs are free to choose a comfortable working language.
Kick off
We will kick off the next program at the end of September 2024 at in-person events (Oslo, Bergen and Stavanger) as well as blended events for those elsewhere. Following on the comments from the previous year's program we will be introducing more structure and limiting participant number through an application process for mentees to ensure dedication and effectiveness of the program moving forward.

WISTA Norway consists of some 450 business and thought leaders – both men and women – who want to drive diversity for a sustainable future.
In Norway, WISTA membership is open to both women and men in the maritime industry, the only criteria being that the members want to contribute to increased diversity in our industry. We are working to support the industry in reaching 40 percent of women in leadership in the maritime industry by 2030.
